The remote and undiscovered Central Highlands contain some of Vietnam's best-kept secrets. You will get off the beaten path and discover hidden lakes, clear rivers, vast swathes of untouched jungle and isolated ethnic minority villages.
Day 1: Dalat to Lak Lake (160 km) Get off-the-beaten path travel through coffee plantations, pristine tropical forests and steep mountain passes to M’nong ethnic minority village next to Lak Lake. On the way, visit: Elephant Waterfall, Cricket farm, Rice wine making, Vegetable and Flower Farms, Silk factory, Linh An Pagoda with the big happy Buddha, Tea Plantations, Jungle Forests, Agent Orange Mountain. Take a walk around Jun village to see their daily activities. Elephant riding is available at Lak Lake (extra pay). spend a night in a long house (home stay) at Jun village.
After a morning of sightseeing in Lak Lake, with many opportunities of taking pictures of people farming and fishing, visit one of the old summer retreats of Emperor Bao Dai, then head to Buon Me Thuot just before lunch. Enjoy the local speciality of the central highland (fresh spring roll), and then do a short trekking at Draynu Waterfall, have a swim at Dray sap Waterfall with very fresh water, one of the biggest waterfall in Vietnam. Drive back to Buon Me Thuot City and do sightseeing in Buon Me Thuot to visit: the central market to see the daily activities of the local people, visit coffee village, church, and the minority village… Overnight in hotel.
Day 3: Buon Me Thuot to Nhatrang (200 km)
Visit Museum of Ethnic Minority Cultures, Housed in the former residence of the French Consul, dating from 1927, this museum contains an important collection of costumes and ethnological artefacts relating to the region’s ethnic minority communities, notably the Ede and the M’nong. There is also a display on the revolutionary history of the region. Drive through Pepper farms and Rubber plantation to Nhatrang. You can compare the difference between Ede and Raglai ethnic minorities on the way. Get the panoramic view of Phoenix pass (a place was badly affected by the Agent Orange during the war. Stop at Duc My hot springs to enjoy the chicken eggs. End the trip by 4 pm.
